NRF’s First Parent Support Group

Creating a Safe Space for Understanding, Reflection, and Support

At Neuroaid Rehab, Nangal Dewat, Vasant Kunj, we conducted our first Parent Support Group session, on 20th December, 2025, designed to support parents of children with developmental challenges through guided discussion, clinical insight, and shared experience. The session was thoughtfully curated to address the emotional and practical realities of parenting children with speech, behavioural, attention, and developmental concerns.

The session focused on helping parents understand the ’why’ behind their child’s behaviour and communication patterns. Topics included regulation, attention, uneven developmental progress, speech and language challenges, and the impact of chronic stress and burnout on families. Through a blend of evidence-based explanations and relatable real-life examples, parents were encouraged to reflect on their experiences while gaining clarity and perspective.

In addition to structured discussion, the session included interactive activities and open conversations that allowed parents to engage with one another in a relaxed, non-judgmental environment. These moments of shared reflection helped normalise common struggles, reduce feelings of isolation, and foster a sense of camaraderie amongst  parents navigating similar journeys.

The Parent Support Group concluded with an open Q&A  session, sharing of practical strategies and take-home resources aimed at supporting both the child’s development and parental well-being. Parent feedback highlighted a strong appreciation for the depth of discussion, emotional safety of the space, and the relevance of strategies shared.

This inaugural session marks an important step in NRF’s ongoing commitment to family-centred care — recognising that empowering parents through understanding and support is essential to meaningful outcomes for children.
