Almost six months ago, NRF authors decided that they needed to be ‘heard’ too. Not just by their patients or colleagues, but by the community in general. A series of good quality professional narratives that went unnoticed only because they were not getting published, could not be a deterrent. After all, we were not just qualified professionals but also experienced ‘hands’ working in the field of rehabilitation for many years.
After much deliberation, we revisited the question burning within us – “Why not blogs”? They were articles that covered various topics of interest, with a casual undertone and an ideal platform for the NRF team to articulate their thoughts and passions.
Then came the discussion on the ‘name’. NeuroConnect existed as NRF’s online awareness platform – a runaway hit from Episode 1. We needed to ponder over another cognate. An elegant logo was designed; backdrop modified just a little; feel and spirit of NeuroConnect was retained yet we had something new ; NEUROVOICE was born thus on 30 August 2025.
Neurovoice covered:
- technical topics (dementia, augmented reality and virtual reality in stroke rehabilitation)
- allowed for expression of one’s opinion on society’s existing reality (inclusive festivals; general demise of critical thinking; postgraduation anxiety; there is no such thing as a ‘difficult’ child; before you correct, connect; mainstreaming children within Indian schools: a myth or reality?)
- became a space for introspection and reflection (the power of healing with hobbies, special education: a job or a passion; teaching: an integral part of being an OT; slow living; terrace paradox; the worth of the wait)
- encouraged real-life experiences to mould us a wee bit, and become better versions of ourselves (puberphonia, musings of a daughter, a ‘patient’ friend, internship journey, Bum Bum Bole)
With a host of contributors that include NRF professionals and guest bloggers, we enter our 6th month (31 January, 2026), I am absolutely honoured and delighted to be penning the 21st blog! It’s like the baby is now into adulthood.
As Anaïs Nin said, “we write to taste life twice, in the moment and in retrospect.” NRF writes to taste life thrice, in the moment, in retrospect and to correct with intention.
